CEO Newsletter
CEO NewsletterDear Team,
This week marks the unofficial beginning of summer for many of our venues, and I want to wish you a safe, successful and happy busy season.
As you all know, this past month has also marked a transition in executive leadership as Chris Verros steps into a new advisory role for our segment, and I am honored to serve you all as interim CEO.
We welcomed nearly 400,000 people to Jones Beach this past weekend for the Memorial Day Air Show (about 200,000 on Sunday alone), and have successfully re-negotiated our contract with the NY Racing Association for the year ahead… so special thanks to our New York teams and to all of you who have been supporting us to create these success stories.
We are also pleased to announce a contract extension in New Orleans for the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Smoothie King Center, which is such an important market for our business. You can read more on Venues Now here and on the new Sodexo USA website here.
All the hard work by our sales teams will soon be paying off, as we will also have a new account win in one of our markets finalized very soon.
In June, we also will be launching an annual client loyalty survey. I will be sending a letter to the decision makers and influencers for each one of our contracts, asking for their feedback. This is an essential tool in helping us get great information from our clients on their satisfaction with our services. Greg and Sal will be asking you to ensure good response rates from your account.
I’d also like to thank those of you who have continued to send good news and developments to us for newsfeeds and pitching. Thank you for helping to tell our stories!

On this note, I value your efforts in delivering best-in-class experiences for our clients and guests on a daily basis.
In visiting the field these last few months, it is clear that the power of our company is YOU… our people. You are the lifeblood of our business, and we cannot do anything without the strong work of our local teams.
And to help you, over the coming months, we will be providing you training and new tools from Sodexo, including:
- Clients for Life training for all
- Waste Watch powered by Leanpath, which is Sodexo’s waste measuring and reduction tool. Our strategy is to pilot this tool in 2019 and deploy widely in 2020. There will be more to come on this later.
So, thank you for your commitment to making our company the “Best Partner” for our clients.
Regards,
Steve Pangburn
Interim CEO
