Team,
I hope you’ve all had a great start to the New Year and are following through on your resolutions. It’s not going to be easy, but on a personal note, I plan to shed a few pounds and get back to my exercise routine including a morning run. It’s definitely an energizing way to start the day. Professionally, I’m determined to communicate with each of you individually this year, either in person, via phone or email. I plan to take advantage of my opportunity at this year’s annual conference in New Orleans to get to know you better – so be on the lookout… I can’t think of anything more gratifying than speaking with our team, (in some cases meeting you for the first time) and hearing about your concerns, insights and ideas that can only make our company better.
Over the holidays I had the chance to take my family to Holiday Valley Ski Resort. The local team led by Franco Brady, Chef Dave Seitz, Shirley Roblee and Ashley Tart were challenged with limited skiing conditions, but still managed to perform at peak levels. The venue looked great, the food was delicious and the hospitality was outstanding. Our client (who all of you will have the chance to meet very soon) couldn’t be happier with the team.
I’ve recently returned from a whirlwind week in the UK, where I had the chance to meet some of our key clients and several members of our amazing management team. The meetings proved fruitful as in one case we agreed upon a long term extension at a very prestigious venue – stay tuned for an announcement coming soon. I’d like to take full credit, but that really goes to the hard work by the local team. Every venue I visited (including our corporate UK office) rolled out the red carpet of hospitality for me, making it very difficult to meet my personal goals laid out in the opening paragraph of this email… Thanks very much for welcoming me, I hope that I was able to properly express my gratitude and appreciation for what you’ve accomplished.
This leads me to another achievable goal. At this year’s conference, I challenge everyone in attendance to take the opportunity to meet, welcome and engage in meaningful dialog with each other, so you can share what you’ve learned. Share your stories, your best practices and your culture. I promise you, as a company we are much “better together”.
Thanks everyone, I’ll see you soon!
