The year has just begun and like every fresh start the air is filled with endless possibilities and the promise of great things. My enthusiasm for a stellar year is not one of blind faith but one truly formed out of hard work and strategy. Our segmentation studies are deeper and more focused than ever before, our technology support will enable us to operate our enterprise smarter, our training programs will provide us with the tools to do our jobs better and our focused execution plans will lead us on our path to success. Undoubtedly, we will face challenges and disappointments but we will come through stronger and smarter. I am quite confident that Y14 will be a new high for our enterprise.
Centerplate received the President’s Award at this week’s NRA Board Meeting for showing extraordinary leadership at the industry’s inaugural Innovation Summit held this past October. I would like to thank our entire IT team, Bob Pascal and our team in Denver for Making It Better To Be There. The Foodservice world sees us as an industry leader and we are being recognized for making a significant difference. I’m reading a book, The Universe Within: From Quantum to Cosmos, about new discoveries creating paradigm shifts in society. There’s a quote I think you would like, “The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.” Centerplate is changing the Event Hospitality universe.
E3 moments of the week …
A true win both on and off the field at the AFC Championship Game at Sports Authority Field – the Broncos advanced to the Super Bowl and our team performed at the highest level throughout every facet of the operation, not only for this game but throughout the season. Kudos to Adrianne Barnhart, Larry Bautista, Chris Bennett, Gene Bollig, Scott Burns, Lisa Cook, Joe Condotti, Chad Cross, Ben Crabtree, Kelli Dali, Tyler Doute, Executive Chef Chris DeJohn, Carl Edrington, Kyle Haire, Lou Iaconetti, Justin Kizima, Calley Krauss, Laurence Rua, Colby McLaughlin, Matt Mulberry, Brittany Portman, Kathryn Smith, Regina Tavenner, Bill Wharton and Michelle White. It’s not every day that we receive a letter from Buckingham Palace! The Deputy Mayor of the Household sent a note of congratulations to our Heritage Portfolio Director Ian D’Annunzio-Green, on joining forces with Centerplate and looking forward to continuing to work with us (copy attached).
At the recent MLS Awards Ceremony the Portland Timbers received a total of five honors including COO Mike Golub being named the 2013 Doug Hamilton Executive of the Year; he previously won the award in 2011. Other wins for the Timbers – the Marisa Colaiano Community Relations Department, Operations Staff, and Security Staff of the Year awards and Supporter Liaison of the Year, Chris Wilson. The Vancouver Whitecaps took home 3 awards – Marketing Executive of the Year, Mikkel Strǿjer, Social Media Activation of the Year and Video of the Year. Congratulations to the Timbers and the Whitecaps!
We focus on what we do and we are unbeatable. Making It Better To Be There Since 1929 – in 2014 our goal is to do that and more. We can never be seen as a secondary player. Centerplate must be seen as the author of positive action.
