CEO Newsletter
CEO NewsletterTeam,
We all know that the hospitality industry never sleeps and with the diversity of our portfolio, we never lack for busy events of all shapes and sizes. Nevertheless, in the midst of our crazy schedules, I truly hope that this summer has provided you with an opportunity to recharge the batteries and share some quality time with your families and friends.
I had a wonderful opportunity to visit with several key clients in the UK recently. Our Heritage Portfolio group based in Edinburgh, Scotland and led by resident Executive Director, Mark Miller (and his incredible team – Chef Brian, Gillian, Peter, Craig, Kate and of course Willie) hosted a few spectacular events to highlight our high end capabilities – and they did not disappoint. I don’t have the words to properly describe our culinary firepower, but I can tell you with total confidence that Centerplate rocks on both sides of the pond. In a word, “BRILLIANT”…
We’ve reported solid results for the first half of 2016 and I’d like to thank you for your efforts. However, we do not have time to rest on our laurels. Many of our venues are forecasting significant financial challenges as we make our way through the 3rd quarter and into the balance of the year. As such, I’m reaching out to each of you to double down on your management skills to help us navigate through these tough headwinds. As members of the Centerplate management team, we need to have a laser focus on our labor and product cost categories. Keep in mind that I’ll never ask you to cut back on quality services – but I will ask you to utilize our company resources, stay focused on your financial goals, use history as your guide to plan for success and implement a disciplined approach to the management of your business. That old phrase of “lead by example” is never out of date…
With the end of summer quickly approaching, we have an uphill battle ahead of us, but there is still time to address our challenges for the final third of 2016. It is of the utmost importance that you dig in and push your team to make a positive impact on our financial goals and objectives. I promise that you have my commitment to do the same.
Thanks everyone for your constant pursuit of excellence. I’ll see you soon …
