CEO Newsletter
CEO NewsletterTeam,
Happy Holidays! It is my wish that each of you has the opportunity to enjoy some quality time with your family and friends, even though many of our locations will be busy providing hospitality services throughout the holidays.
As we rapidly approach the end of a very successful 2016, it is a great time to reflect on our achievements and pause for a brief moment to take a well-deserved bow for a job well done. As usual we’ve hosted several iconic events, among them: Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium, the Nuclear Summit in DC, and the Salesforce “Dreamforce 2016 Dreamfest” at the Cow Palace, which gives us incredible cache in the industry. While the big events are always impressive, the day-to-day experiences in each of our venues are of paramount importance to our company. In a year with virtually no snow, our ski resort managers did a masterful job of managing their properties efficiently and effectively to negate our downside and seek alternative revenue sources—for instance, the limited skiing didn’t deter our team at Holiday Valley from hosting a record 58 weddings during the “off season.”
As great as our operators were in 2016, so too was the New Business Development team. They added close to $50M worth of new business by delivering the Washington State Ferries, the New Orleans Zephyrs, Jones Beach State Park, Hastings Pier, the Brighton Tower, Arley Hall and the Las Vegas Convention Center, to name just a few.
I am equally proud that we continue to provide amazing hospitality services at every level of our organization to over 100 million guests annually. Collectively, we make every venue we serve our most important client by each of you making it happen at the local level. Because of this, our industry reputation has soared and our clients continue to rave about the services we deliver. We are incredibly blessed and I am personally grateful to have such a remarkable team of people who “Make It Better To Be There” every day.
Wherever you are this holiday season, and however you spend it, I hope you know how valuable you are to the success of Centerplate. As we look ahead to the New Year in anticipation, know that you have the power to impact all of the moments big and small still yet to come. I for one—knowing and believing in the talent, dedication, and spirit that lives here—can’t wait to see that great potential come to life in 2017.
Thanks everyone, have a great holiday week and I’ll see you soon …
