Te3am,

Kay Towner reminded me that directly after our Annual Conference in Orlando I wrote that you have to lead from the front, face challenges head on and own your mistakes.

Clearly, this week is a time that I need to own my mistake and show humility while facing a very challenging environment. I have already apologized for my out of character behavior and hope the Foundation can bring safety to many animals in the years ahead with some good coming from this embarrassing situation.

Right now we need to execute better than ever before and not allow others to take advantage of the situation. Like Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

I am humbled by the support you have shown me as well as many colleagues from the communities in which we work and live. I have made a mistake but I will make sure that I learn, grow and ultimately become a better person all around.

Onwards!
