Te3am,

I want to thank Doug Connor, Cheryl King, Chef K and the many others who pulled off a spectacular event for us at the Orange County Convention Center last week.  Centerplate World 2014 was nothing short of magnificent and I appreciate the many kind texts, calls and emails I have received.  We will be sending out a conference survey and you can also send any comments and suggestions directly to Jill Crowe or Tre Lucas.

The most important thing for all of us to do is to continue to make a difference, to put programs in place that absolutely Make It Better To Be There and we absolutely will.  Make sure that you are reviewing your individual performance and that you are taking the appropriate steps to measure up to the Key Performance Indicators of what success looks like in 2014. Make sure you communicate the goals to your entire team.  Especially important is encourage aggressive personal development with Centerplate Spark, get your employees to participate on Glassdoor and test drive QUE3ST 3.0 in the next few days and provide any feedback to Ken Frazier or Tre Lucas. All of these elements are instrumental in delivering the Centerplate Way consistently across our enterprise.

Remember, just like the Van Damme clip, we must remain calm under pressure, balanced under stress and confident in delivering no matter the circumstances. We are the defenders of Live Events.  In 2014 we have to prove that we are the most admired force in hospitality.

A reminder that I want to see everyone’s photo posted in the Employee Directory on Centerplate Spark within the next few weeks.  While we love pets and family members, please select solo shots for your photo.

E3 moment of the week …

As we left Orlando we agreed that one of the ways we were going to Make It Better To Be There in 2014 was to garner positive local press in each of the communities we serve.  I am delighted to announce that Centerplate at the Colorado Convention Center was just named “Best Denver Metro Caterer” by Colorado Events and Meetings Magazine, winning over two nominated competitors, Epicurean and Catering by Design.  Congratulations to Todd Moore and our entire convention center team!

It also gives me great pleasure to report that Ashton Sequeira is the first recipient of the Around Me Bounty. Ashton has worked tirelessly with our Indy racing client and secured the exclusive rights for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. I am told St. Petersburg is in the hopper for next year so Ashton should be doubling his haul. Way to go, Ashton! Now who is next? Let’s get after adding incremental venues around our current footprint.

As I announced in my keynote presentation, we have been awarded our first Inspire Project.  The Sioux City Council voted unanimously to transfer the venue operations, alongside our hospitality services, at the Sioux City Convention Center to Centerplate beginning next week. This is a great first step in this new channel and we wish Mark Wisniewski and his team much success in their expanded role!

A photo taken at the Awards Dinner of the current and former General Managers of the Sacramento Convention Center was sent to our client, including the news of former GM Richard Ginzel being named GM of the Year.  Her response is priceless, “What a great bunch!! Damn you guys are GOOD.  Congratulations and Proud to be a Centerplate Client.”

As we enter Q2 let’s focus on delivering at the highest level possible. Thank you for your leadership and continued support.

Onwards!
