As we close out the first quarter it is important that we remain focused on the things that matter most and that we can control. Having the best Event Hospitality machine in all venues is absolutely something that we can control. Make sure you are executing on your personal plan on a page. Engage your team in driving the business forward. Remember that “the simplest solution is often the most effective solution” as the attached Marketplace Lessons illustrates. Be on the lookout for opportunities to positively impact the business.
I am convinced that we are the only provider of true Event Hospitality and that our future has never been brighter. In fact, just this week a major development company in Europe reached out to us to discuss a very significant new business opportunity with potentially dozens of venues. The worldwide industry is taking note of what we are doing. I thank you for what you have done to get us to this point and look forward to what we will all do in the future to drive our message even further.
E3 moments of the week …
The California Restaurant Association ProStart Invitational at the Pasadena Convention Center was a hit with the CRA administrators, judges, teachers and students alike. Our client, Michael Ross, and GM Doug Finney were each presented with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of our joint sponsorship and support of the event. Gary Prell, a Director of the Association, participated as a judge and a student sent a note of thanks, “He was so supportive of all the teams and their stressed entourage. We were all treated like gold. Please let him know I really appreciate what he does.” Great job by Doug, Gary, Os Ahmed, Gail Cooper, Alex Guerra, Evelyn Gonzales, Stacy Ober, Tom Paquette, Chef Arnold Preciado, also a judge participant, Christine Trejo and our staff in Pasadena!
A benefit event at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs was a wonderful success with the client most appreciative. “Not only was the food wonderful but you and your staff did an amazing job. The buffet was never empty, the bartender not only was able to keep up with the constant stream but he also donated all of his tips that night to the benefit. If anyone ever needs a recommendation, I would be proud to provide one!” Kudos to Belinda Branson, Timothy McQuire, Preston Sigmon and our team at the stadium!
The Jacob K. Javits Center was recognized for its distinguished place in the City’s tourism industry and contributions to the vibrancy of New York City’s arts and cultural communities at the NYC & Company Foundation’s recent annual cultural tourism fund-raising gala. In accepting the honor, our client, Alan Steel, made specific mention of our catering as part of his team. Congratulations to our entire Javits staff!
There is still uncertainty in the world around us with government cliffhangers and swings in the stock market. Our industry itself is on a roller coaster ride with competitors gaining market share by writing checks that our analysis show the opportunities will never cash. We must remain calm, access each situation, and react accordingly. We will fight the fights that are worth fighting and partner with the clients that share our vision.
