CEO NewsletterTe3am,
A good business is one that retains its customers. A strong business is one that retains its book of business while seeking out new growth opportunities. Last week was a perfect illustration of why Centerplate is a strong enterprise as we moved forward on both renewing our existing business and exploring new avenues of growth.
First, I traveled to Europe and intensified our efforts to acquire a strategically important food and beverage company. We hope to be able to present you with positive news in the coming weeks. It certainly would be great to put Centerplate on the global scene and it would create even more exciting career opportunities for our team.
Next we placed the finishing touches on our Colorado Convention Center proposal, where we have been proud to serve the Denver community since 1989. I can tell you that we have developed one of our most creative, dynamic and comprehensive proposals for this renewal. We know the competition cannot match the Centerplate Way. They know it too.
E3 moments of the week …
Very exciting news for two of our team members at the Baltimore Convention Center! Morline Lynton, our Human Resources Manager, has completed her “Professional in Human Resources” (PHR) certification. Renata Allen, Sales Manager, obtained her MBA this year and is going to teach two courses in the Hospitality Program at Morgan State University in 2013 – Food Service Management and Operations in the spring and Food, Beverage and Labor Cost Controls in the fall. Congratulations to Morline and Renata on their great achievements!
Our Executive Chef at the Sevierville Convention Center, Karl Lapointe, was one of 13 chefs invited to prepare multi-course holiday meals and tablescapes at the black-tie 2nd Annual Jingle Bell Ball held at the Titanic Museum. Highlights of the Centerplate menu included a prosecco and spiced cranberry cocktail served in glass Christmas tree ornament and a playful rendition of “Cookies and Milk for Santa” featuring cauliflower and white bean soup served in a milk glass with savory holiday cookies. The gala evening was a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains. Kudos to Chef Karl, Joey Chrzan, Sarah Graham, J.T. McKenna, Jessica Sharpe, Mary Ellen Smith and Whitney Roberson – all of whom donated their time for the evening!
We will continue to win by offering a superior hospitality program that delivers higher economic returns for our clients.
My very best wishes to you and your families for a safe and wonderful Holiday!
