Happy Monday everyone or as we call it in New Orleans on the day before Fat Tuesday, Happy Lundi Gras! This weeks Motivational Monday and fun facts surrounding Mardi Gras are coming to you from the fantastic HR team at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. Enjoy!

Mardi Gras Fun Facts:

1. According to New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, more than 500,000 king cakes are sold each year between Jan 6 to Fat Tuesday and another 50,000 are shipped out of state overnight.
2. An economic impact study released by the University of New Orleans estimates that Mardi Gras generates over $840 million annually.
3. The largest of about one dozen Mardi Gras supply houses in New Orleans sells an estimated one billion pairs of beads for a Mardi Gras season.
4. The official colors of Mardi Gras are Purple, Gold and Green. Purple signifies justice, gold means power, and green stands for faith.
5. New Orleans has been celebrating Fat Tuesday with parades since 1837. The first floats appeared in the parade in 1857.

    Thanks, Jody! The one fact I learned while in NOLA is how family friendly the parade on St Charles is and how great to see the ladders with seats on top for children to view the floats.
