Scoop (or Disher) Sizes
While there are many references to “standard” scoop size, the reality is that there are variations between manufacturers and even standard scoop size references. The following table represents an average of the sources we found and should be used for approximate measurement. An old rule of thumb that may also help in the estimation of portions is that the scoop number represents the number of such scoops, by volume, that may be taken from a quart. Again, this method does not provide an exact number, rather a good approximation. These measurements assume that the ingredient within the scoop is level with the top of the bowl of the scoop.
