Questions for this week:

  1. Burning Ropes

You are given two ropes and a lighter. Each of the two ropes has the following property: if you light one end of the rope, it will take exactly one hour to burn to the other end. It doesn’t necessarily burn at a uniform rate. How can you measure a period of 45 minutes?  (Answer next week)

  1. Cork, Bottle, Coin

You put a coin in an empty bottle and insert a cork in the bottle’s opening. How can you remove the coin without taking out the cork or breaking the bottle?  (Answer next week)

  1. Manhole

Why is it better to have round manhole covers than square ones? (Answer next week)

Here are the answers to the questions from last week:

  1. Breath
  2. Answer: White. Explanation: The only place you can build a house with all walls facing south, is directly on the North Pole. The only bears in the Artic (where the North Pole is) are white polar bears.
  3. 12345678
  4. BANANAS
  5. A garbage truck

    Good morning,
    1. Light both end of rope # 1 and light one end of rope # 2. Rope #1 should be completely burn after 30 minutes and 30 minutes left on rope # 2. Light the other end of rope # 2, it will takes 15 minutes for rope # 2 to burn. Total time 45 minutes.
    2. Push the cork into the bottle and shake the coin out.
    3. Round man hole is safe and practical, square man hole will drop down diagonal when turn sideway.
