Better To Be There Prize

As the defender of live events, our mission is to Make It Better To Be There for our guests and clients. We are committed to challenge continually the status quo and never rest on our laurels.

I believe our greatest contributions come at the moments in which we meet the guests—personally, directly, and in the service of that mission. Therefore, in an effort to better leverage the innovation and creative thinking occurring every day in each of our locations, I am announcing today a competition soliciting the best concept from our enterprise, which strengthens our ability to serve our guests, clients and stakeholders.

We are inviting each unit to submit its best business, culinary, or event innovation: the idea, menu, concept, brand, practice, theme or strategy that builds the business and enhances our reputation for quality, service, and industry leadership.

The idea must have been executed in the field, made a notable contribution to guest satisfaction, client and Centerplate profitability, and be applicable to other venues either sector- or company-wide. The full eligibility requirements for submission are attached.

In addition to massive bragging rights, the selected entry will receive $10,000 (£6,400) to be divided amongst the winning unit as the General Manager and relevant Senior Vice President deem appropriate (e.g. bonus to key participants, holiday party fund, gift certificates, etc.). Entries will be accepted until February 20th and the winner will be selected at the Annual Meeting in New Orleans in mid-March.

There is no limit to the number of entries per unit and every Centerplate, Heritage Portfolio, Fifth Dining, Harry’s Smokehouse and John Harvard’s Brewery and Alehouse location is eligible… so get cracking. This is your chance to show your stuff, and to contribute to the best practices of the company.

Deadline: February 20, 11:59 pm PST
