In December 2012, Centerplate launched Spark, Centerplate’s official intranet, to assist in bringing “The Centerplate Way” to life. Spark provides an access point for a variety of tools and resources designed to support individual and collective pursuit of excellence; these include the Digital Manual, team member and unit directories, various work tools, and the Centerplate University On-Line Campus.

This Campus represents Centerplate’s commitment to team member development and quality training, with the goal of driving productivity and improving the guest experience. In 2015, we deliberately took a measured approach in the introduction of e-learning. We were pleased with the response from the field and believe that it is time for us to take training to an increased level within our organization.

This document serves to capture the intent of training in 2016 and to direct certain required training. Required training objectives are modest and designed to achieve specific objectives across the enterprise; it also encourages a continuous learning approach for our entire core of Centerplate network associates.

Significantly, this addresses more than just on-line or e-learning objectives. There is an expectation that front-line training, compliance training, and professional development training continue to be managed by each General Manager, in order to maximize the productivity of their team and to manage the risks inherent in our business.

All Centerplate leaders and certain key team members will be required to complete a combination of required and elective courses.  The plan year will conclude on November 30, 2016, and will result in approximately 5.5 to 6 hours of learning per user, roughly two hours of learning per trimester.

While each team member is ultimately responsible for his or her individual success, Unit General Managers will continue to closely monitor training hours in order to ensure all of their respective team members meet the minimum requirements. The Centerplate Corporate Hospitality Support Center will also provide centralized support for these company-wide initiatives.

At the end of 2016, in combination with Centerplate’s annual employee review process, each Centerplate team member will be reviewed on the successful completion of the 2016 training initiatives.
